South Snowdonia Search & Rescue is a voluntary organisation, sponsored by Magnox and World Online.

The South Snowdonia Search & Rescue team was an amalgamation, in 1993, of the Rhinog MRT and the Moelwyn MRT. These two teams had been covering their respective areas since the early seventies and were both members of the North Wales Mountain Rescue Association.

The 3 main mountain ranges covered by the team are the Moelwyns, the Rhinogs, the Arenigs, and includes the areas around them.

The team have a now have a base, at Trawsfynydd. On amalgamation, the team became a registered charity. As well as mountain and wilderness searches, the team assists the police in civilian searches in urban areas. This is quite often related to lost children and people who have gone missing from home.
