Anyone over the age of 18 can apply for membership of the team, the criteria being that they should be good, competent and fit mountain walkers. New applicants have to serve a one year probationary period, attending a high percentage of the teams’ training days, along with specifically required courses such as First Aid. At the end of the probationary period they are assessed by the team members and committee, as to whether they will be invited to join as a full member.
